If You've Been Raped

What happened was not your fault
Sexual assault is never a victim's fault, regardless of what you were wearing, if you had said yes before, or whether or not you screamed or fought back.

You are not alone
It is a sad fact that sexual assault happens every day. According to the FBI's Uniform Crime Report, 2000, one forcible rape occurred every 5.8 minutes and there were over 261,000 reported and unreported rapes in the year 2000. That is more than one rape a minute!

We believe you
It really hurts when friends or family don't want to believe that this happened to you. Know that there is someone you can talk to who believes you and will not judge you.

It is important to get medical attention
Whether or not you report the assault to law enforcement, it is still important to get checked out medically for any injuries, pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases.

REMEMBER, whatever happened to you, it was not your fault!
